Melisa can’t quite meet her brother’s gaze as she awkwardly presses her fingertips together and says, “I forgot about it until this morning. It was still there, so I took it in to read...” Above Mortimer’s head is the text, “You forgot the magic book…” Melisa grabs her skirt, squeezing it nervously. She says, And... got a little upset... and wanted to get out of this place for a while...” She begins to trail off. “and... um…” Suddenly she bursts out, “I’m - I’M SORRY! I’M SORRY FOR EVERYTHING!” Mortimer stands with his mouth slightly open for a moment, his eyes obscured by the framing of the panel. From behind the door of the room, comes a sudden shout that deflates the tension between the siblings and makes Mortimer sigh: “MORTIMER! Now where have YOU gone off to?!”
